West Ham v Chelsea Betting Preview – Premier League 6th March 8.00pm

Not an easy game for the Blues here really who have lost their last two away games at West Ham (all competitions). So a little bit of a banana skin for them in this one and their away form in the top flight hasn’t been great lately with just the one win in their last four. So punters may sniff a bit of value on the Hammers getting something out of this game as they are going well enough at the moment to suggest that they can stick in there against the league leaders on home soil. It’s a good looking London derby to round off the weekend’s top flight action with. Will the Blues avoid defeat on their trip across the capital?

West Ham v Chelsea Betting Tips

The Irons aren’t in bad form at the moment having lost just one of their last six league games in a pretty steady W3 D2 L1 record. That loss was at home though against Manchester City and their last three defeats in the league have been against top six sides in Arsenal, Man City and Manchester United, while they have also suffered defeats against Spurs and Chelsea as well during the term. So they haven’t matched up well against the top sides this season. The Hammers lost 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend of the new season and this will be the first time hosting Chelsea at the London Stadium. The Hammers will be hoping for a change in fortunes as they won only two of their last ten Premier League games at Upton Park against the Blues (D1 L7). West Ham did take a 2-1 win over Chelsea at home in the League Cup this season and a West Ham 2-1 return in the Coral correct score market is a big 18/1 price, with a Chelsea 1-0 being the shortest priced option there at 13/2.

Andy Carroll has scored five goals in his last three home Premier League London derbies and the big man is trading at 10/3 in the anytime goalscorer market for the Irons, who will be without Michail Antonio. Manuel Lanzini has scored in seven of his 11 Premier League London derby appearances (seven goals) and he is a price of 9/2 to net. West Ham have gone W5 D3 L5 at home in the Premier League this season and they took some time to settle into their new home, but they seem to have started to look more comfortable there. The Hammers are vulnerable at the back as they have collected only one clean sheet in their last nine league games and both teams to score at Coral is running at a price of 4/5 which will be tempting. The Irons haven’t taken a clean sheet in any of their last four home games against the Blues, but with Chelsea just stuttering of late out on the road, punters may fancy the Hammers digging out a point in this one.

Chelsea have only gone W1 D2 L1 in their last four Premier League road games and that was after a big six match winning streak on the road. So they haven’t been destroying anyone away from home, and overall home and away are on a four match streak without a clean sheet in the top flight, having conceded exactly one goal in each of those. Over 2.5 goals at Coral is trading at a price of 4/5. Diego Costa is a 5/6 anytime goalscorer favorite for this one while Pedro at 15/8 is on a two match scoring streak. Chelsea have gone W8 D3 L2 away from home this season and the two defeats there are the only two games in which they have failed to score in away from Stamford Bridge this term (at Spurs and Arsenal). Given their quality going forward, you would expect them to get on the board against the Hammers, which suggests that they are good enough to avoid defeat. Chelsea’s last two away games have both been a 1-1 result which may be huge value at 7/1 in the Coral Correct Score market. Chelsea will be defending a ten point lead at the top of the table this weekend.

West Ham v Chelsea Predictions

The Irons can give Chelsea a decent run for their money in this one. West Ham have been patchy at home this season, but since the autumn, they have been going well enough to suggest that they can give the Blues an uncomfortable evening. Chelsea have not been overly convincing out on the road recently, winning just one of their last four away from home, so nothing wrong with settling on the draw in the match outright and perhaps a 1-1 correct score is a value punt.
