Who will be following up the Rolling Stones Glastonbury act with the showcase set of next year’s festival. The markets for the headlining act of next year’s event is already hotting up and there are two strong names at the head of the pack according to the new market from online bookmaker William Hill.

William Hill have given joint favouritism to Kasabian and the Foo Fighters, who are expected to be duelling it out for top honours next summer.

William Hill placed Kasabian and the Foo Fighters as joint favourites at odds of 6/1 to be the headlining act next year. Famous for hits like Club Foot, LSF and Empire, Kasabian last played the festival back in 2009. For the Foo Fighters, their last appearance at the festival was even further back, their last showing being in 1998.

So why the focus on these two heading the betting market?

Both are expected to be releasing new albums next year, and therefore it could lead them to the top slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2014.

“Kasabian and the Foo Fighters are festival royalty and with some new material potentially in the offing, they are always going to be in the forefront of the Glasto thinking next year,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “Although with Sabbath (25/1) reforming and scaling the charts with their new release and a potential Oasis (25/1) anniversary in the offing, there is a little bit of outside value to be found in the market.”

Other names which have mentioned are The Stone Roses, Prince, Daft Punk and David Bowie, along with Noel Gallagher. Liam Gallagher hinted that he would be interested in reforming Oasis with brother Noel to celebrate their 20th anniversary of launching their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe.’

So there could be some great outside value in them. But Noel Gallagher’s newer project, Noel Gallagher and High Flying Birds are taking much stronger favouritism at 8/1 to be the headline act next year.

William Hill’s Glastonbury headliners 2014 odds are as follows:

Kasabian (6/1)
