  • Name: Arjen Robben
  • Born: Netherlands
  • Date of Birth: 23/1/1984
  • Nationality: Netherlands
  • Position: Left midfielder
  • Current Club: Bayern Munich

A Dutch superstar in the making, on the foot steps of Johan Cruyff', Robben represented the Netherlands in 42 games, scoring 11 goals. Robben’s first exposure to international football was in Euro 2004 when he entered the field as a substitute by coach Dick Advocaat in the 66th minute against Czech Republic. The Netherlands were leading 2–1 then. But the Czech Republic won the game 3-2 scoring two more goals. This led to criticism of the substitution. However, Robben went on to score the deciding penalty in the shootout between the Netherlands and Sweden. It was an inspiring moment for the Dutch team as it was their first shootout win in five similar matches.
In 2006, Robben played in his first World Cup Qualifiers. He could score only two goals in six games. In the opening match against Serbia and Montenegro, Robben scored the winning goal in the 18th minute, and was named the Man of the match. He won it again in the match against Ivory Coast and became one of the eight players to have won the Man of the Match Award a second time.
Robben's skill in ball control and technical footwork has made him a valuable player and he was scooped up by Chelsea from PSV for 18 million Euros, in November 2004. He was a favourite of coach Mourinho, but his first year at the English club was plagued by injuries. However, when he was in the field, he proved to be the fulcrum around which the team progressed. In 28 matches, Robben contributed six goals as Chelsea won a second consecutive Premier League championship, the first back-to-back titles for the west London club.
He moved to Real Madrid on a five-year deal on 22 August 2007, with the transfer fee reported as €35 million. Robben proved crucial for many Real Madrid matches, making his famous runs down the left wing, and quickly became a first choice for the left midfield position.
On 28 August 2009, Robben moved to Bayern Munich for around €25 million. With the number 10 shirt on, he came in as a half-time substitute in his debut game against Wolfsburg and scored two goals to help his team into beating last season's champions.

A player who may determine the course of the 2010 Cup.
