United repeated the performance in 2007-08 and 2008-09, with Rooney scoring 12 goals in each season.

Rooney continues to be in great form in the current season too and on 31 January 2010, he scored his 100th premier league goal in a 3-1 win over Arsenal. Incidentally, his first goal too was against Arsenal. Rooney has already scored 20 goals this season.

Rooney is injury prone and has had to miss several vital games in his career.

Rooney married Coleen his girl friend for six years, in 2008. in 2006, he was awarded 100,000 pounds in libel damages from The Sun and News of the World.
