It will be a Merry Christmas for one lucky punter at Paddy Power, after picking up £17,000 off a £3 football accumulator.

It was another strange weekend in the Premier League last weekend, with Manchester United and Chelsea losing winnable games, and Man City getting held to a draw. So those surprise results no doubt bust more than a few optimistic coupons heading into the weekend of football betting.

But the results didn’t stop one punter from collecting a huge return off a seven fold accumulator with betting site Paddy Power. The stake? £3.80 which returned £17,383.51 in profit. That equates to a 5268/1 shot.

What perhaps makes this so impressive is that the seven fold consisting of three away wins and two draws, so it certainly wasn’t looking at home bankers.

Here is the bet in full:
Crystal Palace to beat Cardiff 8/5
Norwich to beat West Brom 7/2
Leeds and Watford to draw 23/10
Birmingham and Middlesbrough to draw 23/10
Southend to beat Chesterfield 5/2
Aberdeen to beat St Johnstone 13/8
Aberdare Town to beat Prestatyn Town 7/2

With Norwich, Crystal Palace, Aberdeen and Southend all cruising to wins, the bet was still far from winning heading into the final ten minutes of action. Tory Deeney’s late equaliser for Watford against Leeds, and Birmingham’s equaliser against Middlesbrough which came in the fourth minute of added time, just about brought home the huge profit for the punter.
