The Danish Superliga returns on Friday as Aalbrog and Odense both look to continue where they left off before the international break. The visitors won on their last visit here – their first victory in four attempts.

AaB Aalborg Preview – Will Aalborg build on win last time out to and move into the top six ahead of weekend games ?

Aalborg were on a run of three straight losses going into their last game and would have been delighted with their 2-0 won over Hobro. it keeps them on the heels of the top six which they will be aiming to be part of come the end of the season. AaB are now three points off Brondby who currently occupy sixth spot and any sort of win would see them jump three places and above that rival, ahead of the remainder of the weekend games. It’s motivation for Jacob Friis’ and his players – with the coach coming up on his first year in charge.

Friis would have been relieved that his team were able to halt the run of losses with that win before the international break. The aggregate score in those losses was 8-1, and having beaten champions Copenhagen in the match before, was certainly a reality check. Their last home game was a 3-0 defeat against Randers which represents their only home loss of the campaign. Aalborg have taken 10 points from the other four so will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways on Friday. Midfielder Lucas Andersen is the club’s top scorer this term with five games and on course to beat the 10 league goals he managed last term.

OB Odense Preview – Can Odense find a victory that would make it three wins in a row for the first time this season?

Odense come into this match on the back of really food form before the international break. Coach Jakob Michelsen will be looking for his players to continue that level as they look to close in on the European spots. OB have won four of their last five in all competitions including a very impressive defeat of current leaders Midtjylland at the end of September – that remains that opponent’s only defeat thus far this season. It’s an indication of how talented this group of players are and wins such as this will instill so much confidence.

With a nine point deficit and the respective resources, it’s unrealistic to expect Odense to challenge for the title. They are joint third going into this weekend’s games, though, and can take third spot outright for a couple of days at least with a win on Friday. They have identical home records both home and away with three wins and a draw from six games. The losses on their travels have come against Brondby and Nordsjaelland. Interestingly, those are also the only games where they have conceded goals – keeping four clean sheets in the remainder of their away games.

Key-Facts – AaB Aalbrog v OB Odense

  • Aalborg ended a run of three straight defeats in the league with a 2-0 win away to Hobro last time out
  • Odense are looking to win their third game in a row, a victory that would take them in to third
  • The champions won all four meetings against Gorica last season and beat them 3-1 at home back in August

AaB Aalborg v OB Odense Betting Advice

These two teams have shown their capability in recent weeks with victories against the top two teams in Denmark. There’s only four points between them in Odense’s favour but Aalborg have shown how strong they are at home this season. It’s a very congested area of the table and both teams are seeing the benefits of picking up important victories and the impact that has on their league position.
These clubs are well known to each other as established top flight teams. The two meetings last season when the way of the visiting team with a one goal margin of victory in each. Incidentally, OB are undefeated in their last trips to Aalborg. I expect it to be another close contest on Friday in what is likely to be a low-scoring game. Eight of the last 14 games have went under 2.5 and that’s the selection.
