The opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership continues on Sunday afternoon and our next match features a clash between Aberdeen and Hearts as the betting tips continue at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen Prediction – Can Aberdeen transfer Euro form?

It’s been an extremely successful European venture so far this season for Aberdeen who have now qualified for the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.

Home and away 2-1 wins over Finnish club, Rovaniemi were followed by a 1-1 draw in the 1st leg against Georgian outfit Chikhura in the 2nd qualifying round.

The Dons then recorded a resounding 5-0 win at Pittodrie in the return leg to book their spot in the 3rd qualifying round of the competition.

All attention now turns to the first match of the domestic season in the Scottish Premiership where Aberdeen will be keen to transfer their pre-season form.

In last season’s Premiership, Aberdeen finished the regular season in 4th place tied on 58 points with 3rd placed Kilmarnock which saw them progress to the Championship Round.

The picture didn’t change much in the second phase as The Dons’ final placing was 4th but this was enough to see them earn a Europa League qualifier berth.

Aberdeen finished the regular season with a home record of 8-4-5 31/23 and their final home match of the season was a 2-1 win over today’s opponents, Hearts.

Hearts Prediction – Can Hearts claim another top six finish?

If they are to do so, they’ll probably need to improve upon last season’s results away from home and improve their consistency on the road.

The visitors ended the regular season last term with an away record that stood at 7-1-8 17/27 which included losing 4 of their last 5 matches on their travels.

Defeats at Hamilton, Rangers, Aberdeen and Celtic towards the end of last season prevented The Jambos from claiming a qualifying spot in the Europa League.

One competition that Hearts have done well in so far this season though has been the Scottish League Cup with Hearts finishing top of Group A.

3 wins from their 4 matches in a group comprising of East Fife, Dundee United, Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath has resulted in Hearts making it to the 2nd round.

They’ll no doubt be hoping that they can also transfer League Cup success to the domestic Scottish Premiership, starting with Aberdeen on Sunday.

This may be easier said than done though as Hearts have failed to beat Aberdeen in each of their last 6 visits to Pittodrie.

Key-Facts – Aberdeen v Hearts

  • Aberdeen were unbeaten in their first 4 Europa League ties this season
  • Hearts have won 3 of their 4 group matches in the League Cup
  • The home side has won each of the last 6 meetings between Aberdeen and Hearts

Betting Tips Verdict

Aberdeen have their tails up and Hearts are likely to find them hard to beat again at Pittodrie.
