Aberdeen Preview – Was Hamilton result a false dawn?

Dons’ manager Derek McInnes must have issued a sigh of relief as goals from Curtis Main, Niall McGinn and Connor McLennan saw then see off the Accies at the Core Physio Stadium.

Main was preferred to top scorer Sam Cosgrove as the Dons scored in the league for the first time since the end of December and won for the first time since Boxing Day.
McInnes was under pressure from fans disappointed to see their team’s slump in form, though they have moved back into third place with Motherwell also struggling at present.

Midfielder Craig Bryson has returned to full training after nearly three months out and could make a surprise return against the champions but Ash Taylor will probably have to pass a late fitness test and forward Scott Wright and on-loan defender Greg Leigh remain absentees.

The manager may experiment by playing Cosgrove alongside Main this Sunday in a match in which any kind of positive result will be seen as a bonus.

Aberdeen’s recent record against the Bhoys at Pittodrie is abysmal and Neil Lennon’s team are in terrific form so a shake-up in formation and tactics is probably no bad thing.

Celtic Preview – Bhoys in no mood to surrender advantage

Celtic’s injury problems have eased ahead of Sunday’s trip to Pittodrie.

Right-back Jeremie Frimpong and midfielder Nir Bitton have returned to training this week and both are pressing to be involved against Aberdeen. But the game may come too soon for Hatem Abd Elhamed and forward Mikey Johnston remains on the sidelines.

The last clash between the sides proved to be a fiery affair and Celtic are prepared that the Aberdeen players may want some retribution for the sending off of Sam Cosgrove, particularly against Kristoffer Ajer.

Neil Lennon’s men are looking to extend their winning run in 2020 to nine matches in the midday kick-off but the manager isn’t a fan of early starts and a poor weather foercast has also darkened his mood.

But Celtic have won their last six matches with a 22-1 aggregate and have won on their last nine visits to Pittodrie, keeping a clean sheet in their last three.

Predictions and Tips

As Rangers begin to falter, Celtic have it in their own hands again to retain their Premiership title.

It’s probably only complacency that will see then slip up at Pittodrie, a ground on which they’ve enjoyed notable success in recent years.

Sportingbet have taken a gamble on Celtic’s potency in a few of their markets this weekend and are offering 35/4 against a 0-3 Correct Score.
