Aberdeen – Can Dons bounce back from back to back defeats and end all chat of potential relegation?
It’s never ideal coming into a team more than midway through a season and Jim Goodwin is certainly experiencing that with Aberdeen. The former St Mirren boss took over at Pittodrie in February following the ill-fated spell of Stephen Glass. The impact has not been instant, however, as Aberdeen have continued to struggle. The Dons sit in ninth spot heading into this game, looking over their shoulder at the teams beneath them – particularly St Johnstone who are in the relegation playoff spot and only five points adrift.
It remains a sizeable cushion with four games to go but Goodwin knows his team need to get that win which would all but secure their Premiership status and ahead any fears as soon as possible.
Dundee Preview – Can McGhee find his first win since taking over at the 11th time of asking?
Mark McGhee’s appointment to take over from James McPake back in February was a surprise to many, in particular Dundee supporters. Now, with four matches of the league season left it doesn’t appear to have had the desired effect and Dundee remain in dire trouble at the foot of the Premiership. The Dens Park club are five points behind St Johnstone who they drew with last week at home.
It will take a huge effort from McGhee and his players to avoid an immediate return to the Championship, starting with taking three points here.

The most obvious barrier to them getting three points at Pittodrie on Saturday is their recent form. McGhee has been in charge for 10 games and is yet to record a victory. In the league it’s four defeats and five draws with their last three games ending in a share of the points. They’re going to need more than draws to survive, but it does give them some hope that they’re not far away.
Dundee have also scored in all three of their away games under McGhee managing a couple against both Celtic and Dundee United, and also in a 1-1 draw at Motherwell. Danny Mullen is the club’s top scorer and has two in his last three matches.
Dundee vs Aberdeen Betting Advice
It is unlikely that this game will be a classic as both teams know that points are the priority over performances. Aberdeen will have other chances after this to secure their safety but for Dundee the games are just running out. There will be some hope they can get that elusive win under McGhee (who has played for and managed Aberdeen) considering they beat the Dons back in October.

- With four games to go Aberdeen are in need of points to move away from the relegation playoff spot
