Two teams who need a win meet on Saturday with Hibernian travelling north to face an Aberdeen team who have lost their last five.

Aberdeen Preview – Will Dons end their five match losing run with a first win in 11?

Stephen Glass got the dreaded vote of confidence from his chairman this week following a run of 10 games without a win. Aberdeen’s last victory was on the 12th of August and they are in real danger of going through two whole months without registering a win. The most recent disappointment came last week away to Dundee – a team who were registering their own first league win of the season. It means they now sit in ninth spot with only eight points from nine games.

There is plenty of football left to play and Glass’ supporters will point to the fact that it takes time for a team to change their identity. However, pressure is growing and a team who have racked up multiple second and third place finishes over the last decade are in risk of being cut adrift of the top six.

One of the reasons why there was a call to move on from former boss Derek McInnes was because of the style of play and how negative the Dons were at times. A consequence of being more open and expansive has been a failure to keep clean sheets. The last time an Aberdeen prevented the opposition from scoring was the 1st of August – that is the only clean sheet all season.

At the other end it has been a successful transition for American striker Christian Ramirez. He took his tally to four in the league with Aberdeen’s consolation in the loss against Dundee.

Hibernian Preview – Can Hibs bounce back to form at a ground they have a poor record?

The current situation at Easter Road is not as frustrating as it is for their next opponents but Hibs’ have also seen their form tail off in recent weeks. A humbling 3-0 defeat at home to Dundee United last weekend means they have won just one of their last five. For a team who could have went top a couple of weeks back they’re now five points off the leaders.

Jack Ross – who led the club to third place in his first full season at the club last time around – has also come in for criticism for the lack of creativity and dynamism in attack. On the face of it their 14 goals in nine games doesn’t necessarily back that up but four of them have been penalties.

With Celtic travelling to Edinburgh in midweek it marks the beginning of an important and testing few days which will be as much a mental test as anything else.

The last time Ross’ team won on their travels in the league was the opening day of the season when winning at Fir Park. They’ve taken two points from a possible nine since but have faced both Rangers and Hearts who are currently first and second respectively.

Aberdeen vs Hibernian Betting Advice

It would be overly dramatic to say this is a must win game for Aberdeen but it would be a much needed three points. The longer this win less goes it’s hard to see how Glass can survive it, despite that support from the Chairman earlier in the week.

Although Hibs sit above them in the table it’s not the worst of opponents they could be facing. The visitors are not in the best of form themselves and they have a terrible record here. The win back in May is their only success in 10 visits to this venue.

Key Facts – Aberdeen vs Hibernian Betting Tip

  • Aberdeen have not won any of their last 10 games and attempting to prevent a sixth straight loss
  • Defeat at home to Dundee United last week means it’s one win in five for Hibs
  • The visitors have won just one of their last 10 visits to Pittodrie

It’s hard to have faith in either of these teams just now so I’m happy to sit on the fence with this one. Eleven of Aberdeen’s last 14 games have seen both teams scoring and this looks like being another of those.
