Aberdeen have hit some form in the last couple of weeks whilst Motherwell are without a win in their last five. The two meet at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Aberdeen Preview – Will Dons continue their improvement with a third straight home win?

Pressure was mounting on Stephen Glass as his Aberdeen side went 10 games without a win. A promising start had been undone with eight defeats in the space of that 10 game run and there were even some calls for Glass to leave. Despite failing to pick up any wins for over two months, performances were – in the main – relatively encouraging. A lack of confidence and some misfortune were apparent but they stuck with the process and the Dons are now beginning to reap the benefits.

Last weekend’s win over Hearts was a third match unbeaten – a run which also included victory over Hibs and a draw away to leaders Rangers. Having been two goals up at Ibrox it could so easily have been three wins from as many games.

(odds taken 2000 GMT, Tuesday 2 November)

Aberdeen have now moved up into the top six with 15 points from 12 matches. They remain six points off third place Hearts and that would appear to be their most realistic target for the Premiership this season. Glass will be looking for his players to continue this improvement in pursuit of that objective.

I’ve noted before the role that Christian Ramirez has in this Aberdeen attack. He needs support around him but there’s no doubting he’ll provide goals. He’s scored four in his last six league games and is on nine in all competitions for the season.

Motherwell Preview – Can Motherwell turn their form around to do the double over Aberdeen?

As Aberdeen climb the table the opposite is true for Motherwell and Graham Alexander. ‘Well are now without a win in their last five games, losing four of them. Last weekend’s 6-1 defeat at home to Rangers will do little for their confidence and that was despite taking the lead. They’ll also have to do without their captain Stephen O’Donnell who saw red in the game.

Despite their recent drop-off in form Motherwell are level on points with their opponents with an inferior goal difference. They also know they could be as low as 10th with another defeat.

Alexander will know he has to arrest the slide as quickly as possible but will also point to this being a really challenging run of games. By the time they face Aberdeen they will have played five of the current top six in their last half dozen games.

As is often the case when teams have a slump in form, there have been several changes to the starting line-up as they look to find improvement. The front line has seen most rotation with Tony Watt the one constant. He may have missed out on an international call-up with Scotland this week but he’s joint top scorer in the Premiership.

Aberdeen vs Motherwell Betting Advice

These two teams may be level on points but they are on different trajectories at the moment. Aberdeen are recovering from that terrible run of form whilst there is little evidence that Motherwell are going to turn their results around and starting picking up points again.

It was ‘Well who won the first meeting of this season. Their 2-0 victory back in September came despite Aberdeen dominating possession. Glass will be ensuring that his team are more clinical this time around.

Key Facts – Aberdeen vs Motherwell Betting Tip

  • Aberdeen have taken seven points from their last three games
  • Motherwell are looking for a first win in six league games
  • It was ‘Well who won the first meeting of the season between the two (2-0 at Fir Park in September)

Had this game been played a month ago it could well have been a different selection. However, as it is, Aberdeen are looking much morel like we would expect them to with the investment they have had in the squad. They will feel they owe Motherwell one and I’m backing them to do so, at the same time continuing their good run.
