Preview: AC Milan have won all four home outings in Serie A this season and another on Tuesday would see them return to the top of the table. Stefano Pioli’s side welcome awkward customers, though, in the shape of Torino. Albeit the latter are without a league win at this ground in all fourteen attempts since the turn of the century.

AC Milan – Rossoneri know how to turn it on at San Siro?

While their first Champions League campaign since 2014 hasn’t gone according to plan so far, life back in Italy continues to run a lot more smoothly. On Tuesday they were beaten 1-0 in Portugal by FC Porto, making it three losses in as many European outings this season to sit bottom of their group. By Saturday evening, however, they were celebrating their return to the summit of Serie A.

Victory in Bologna was anything but smooth, though. Stefano Pioli’s men needing two goals inside the closing six minutes to get it done against spirited hosts who battled gamely with nine men for the final 30 minutes of the contest. That an eighth league win of 2021-22 for Milan, who remain unbeaten thus far (D1). They’ve won all four encounters at San Siro, meanwhile, averaging 2.75 goals in doing so.

Key Stat: In winning all four Serie A home games this season, AC Milan scored at least twice (11 in total) and won by a margin of at least two goals on three occasions.

Torino – Juric’s men won’t go down without a fight?

Il Toro had to withstand a late fightback from struggling Genoa over the weekend to register their first win in five. In turn, avoiding a third straight defeat having recently lost successive matches 1-0 to Juventus and Napoli. Those results do however mean the Turin based outfit retain a dismal record against the league’s elite this term, picking up one of a possible twelve points from match-ups against last season’s top-six.

However, former Hellas Verona coach Ivan Juric has quickly made this team much more competitive than they were last season. Torino have not been beaten by more than a solitary goal thus far, despite having already faced Atalanta, Juventus, Lazio and Napoli. Each of those games seen them give up costly late goals, a habit they will need to shake off if they are to avoid a fourth consecutive loss to AC Milan.

Key Stat: All but one of Torino’s nine Serie A matches in 2021-22 have seen at least one goal scored (by either side) in the 81st minute or later.

AC Milan Vs Torino Betting Advice

Bearing in mind how AC Milan laboured to victory against nine men at the weekend, this could be another tricky encounter. Facing a Torino side yet to be beaten by more than a single goal margin all season. The latter have found a way to push several of the division’s top teams (Atalanta, Juventus, Lazio and Napoli) close already, and so could, theoretically, thrive in a similar match-up at San Siro.

AC Milan Vs Torino – Key Facts:

  • Both these teams enjoyed wins over the weekend; AC Milan seeing off a spirited Bologna (2-4) after Torino had edged out Genoa (3-2) the previous night.
  • AC Milan remain unbeaten through nine league games (W8 D1), winning all four to have been played at the San Siro. Though have now conceded in six straight games (all comps).
  • Torino boast a proud record in Serie A this season of having yet to be beaten by more than a single goal, scoring exactly once in three of four away league games (W1 D1 L2).

Although Torino evidently possess the capacity to make life difficult in Milan, putting that into practice might be easier said than done. AC are flying in the league, winning eight of nine so far and all four here at San Siro – scoring two or more in each home win so far and winning three of these games by 2+ goals. Clean sheets, however, have been scarce with it now six successive games in all competitions conceding at least once.
