Accrington Stanley will be keen to maintain their automatic promotion spot in League Two on Saturday afternoon when they take on bottom half outfit Port Vale when the two teams meet at the Wham Stadium.
However, it hasn’t always been plain sailing for Accrington as they wobbled at the end of November and throughout December, which saw them lose four straight league matches on the bounce with losses to Exeter City, Lincoln City, Crawley Town and Carlisle United.
It should be noted that three of these four defeats were inflicted upon them away from home though, and since that bump in the road, Accrington have bounced back with three wins on the trot over Grimsby Town, Chesterfield and Cheltenham Town. Stanley also possess a pretty strong home record of 7-2-3 23/12 with strikers Kee (15 goals) and Jackson (10 goals) looking to cash in today.
Almost the opposite has happened to visitors Port Vale as they put together a promising sequence of results during December which saw The Valiants register wins over Cambridge United, Carlisle United, Coventry City and most impressive of all, a 4-0 victory over league leaders, Luton Town.
Three of these four wins were recorded at their Vale Park though, and they’ve since slumped to three league matches without a win that includes back-to-back defeats to Notts County and Forest Green Rovers, along with a 1-1 draw with Yeovil Town.
With just one away win from their last six trips (a 2-1 win at 13th placed Carlisle) and an ordinary looking away record of 4-3-7 13//17 so far on their travels, they look to be up against it at Accrington today.
