There’s just the one fixture in League Two on Tuesday night, but what a cracker this promises to be with fifth placed Accrington Stanley taking on seventh placed Swindon Town at the Wham Stadium with both teams hunting down an automatic promotion spot.
Accrington Stanley produced a fantastic comeback on Saturday when they beat Stevenage 3-2 after being 2-0 down, but a brace from McConville (10 goals) and a goal from leading goalscorer, Kee (17 goals), ensured a valuable three points for Stanley who are just two points adrift of a top three place in League Two.
That win on Saturday became Accrington’s fifth win from their last six matches, and with a fairly solid home record which stands at 9-2-3 29/16 under their belts so far, they’ll be confident of taking something from this match.
Swindon Town were held to a 2-2 draw away at Lincoln City on the weekend, but The Robins may well be thinking what could have been as they held a 2-1 lead until Lincoln struck an equaliser deep into injury time to earn a point.
Swindon hit the road again Tuesday night as they make their way up to Lancashire to face Accrington Stanley, but this won’t faze the visitors too much as they possess the best away record in League Two with an impressive record of 10-1-4 28/15, along with just one defeat from their last seven league matches overall.
In addition, Swindon have lost just twice in their last nine on their travels, and this sequence includes six wins as well as scoring in all bar one of their 15 away matches to date, with forward Norris (11 goals) doing most of the damage.
I therefore fancy both teams to hit the back of the net tonight.
