The second legs of the Europa League play-offs will be played out on Thursday night and the next of the betting tips concerns AEK Larnaca and Trencin as they head into this deciding leg with the match evenly poised at 1-1.
AEK Larnaca earned what could prove to be a valuable 1-1 draw in Slovakia in last week’s first leg, and with home advantage at their AEK Arena behind them tonight, the hosts may well fancy their chances of being in the hat for the group stage draw of the Europa League.
The hosts have reached the play-offs thanks to a wins over Irish club, Dundalk 4-0 on aggregate and a 7-0 aggregate win over Austrian outfit, Sturm Graz.
AEK Larnaca also hold a good record on home turf in the Europa League as they’ve lost just once in their last 10 matches, a sequence that has also seen the home side record 8 clean sheets.
Trencin make their way over to Cyprus knowing they’re in for a tough challenge of overcoming a solid AEK Larnaca outfit in this second leg despite also putting together a solid run of matches without defeat.
Trencin are unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions overall, which includes having progressed through the qualifying rounds of this competition with wins over Buducnost 3-1, Gornik Zabrze 5-1 and most notable of all, a 5-1 aggregate win over Dutch side Feyenoord.
The latter result included a 4-0 trouncing of the Dutch club at Trencin’s Mestský futbalový štadión Na Sihoti, but I can’t help feeling that the visitors may well have missed the boat this time around as they could only muster a 1-1 draw at home with AEK Larnaca.
