Alloa Athletic Preview – Wasps in good heart ahead of clash with champions elect

The Wasps may still be in relegation trouble just one place off the bottom of the Championship but they have been enjoying a revival lately and have won two of their last three matches, drawing the other at Inverness last week.
That is definite upturn in form for Athletic and it earned Peter Grant a manager of the month award for January. There have also been plenty of plaudits for striker Kevin O’Hara, who has now found the net 13 times this season.
But they’ve suffered a blow with on-loan goalkeeper Jamie Macdonald forced to return to parent club Kilmarnock having picked up an injury. Withe regular Neil Parry out long term, that means an opportunity for teenager Keiran Wright, who is on loan from Rangers.
Fellow youngsters Ben Stirling, Scott Banks and Lee Connelly also arrived in the transfer window and will help boost the numbers at Recreation Park. The more-experienced Alan Trouten returned from injury at Inverness and could start for the first time in seven weeks against United as the Wasps look to continue their improvement.

Dundee United Preview – United refreshed after a week’s break

The Tangerines have not won any of their last four matches.
Admittedly, two of those games came against Premier League Hibernian in the cup but a home draw against Morton and a home defeat by Arbroath were poor results in what has been a landmark season so far.
Still 17 points ahead of second-placed Inverness, not even the most pessimistic of United fans will imagine that they can be caught but their little wobble should be a reminder that no wins can be taken for granted between now and the end of the season.
Robbie Neilson’s squad could be boosted by the return of several first-choice players at Alloa.
Declan Glass has been cleared to play after a clash of heads last week but Osman Sow is likely to miss out, along with Paul McMullan and Nicky Clark. Louis Appere, however, has recovered from a stomach bug. Striker Rakish Bingham could feature having joined up with the Tangerines following his release by Doncaster Rovers, though top scorer Lawrence Shankland and Peter Pawlett are likely to lead the line.
