League D Group 1 completes their group matches this evening and my first preview features another basement clash between Andorra and Latvia with a precious three points up for grabs as the betting tips continue…
Andorra sit on 3 points as they’ve been involved in three stalemates so far during the group stages with draws against Latvia (away), Kazakhstan and Georgia, and with the exception of their opening point against Latvia, the other two were recorded at their Estadi Nacional.
The hosts have found wins hard to come by on the international stage as they’ve registered just one victory from their last 13 matches overall which was a 1-0 win away at Liechtenstein. However, defeats to Cape Verde Islands, Georgia and Kazakhstan show their vulnerability, as well as losing 5 of the last 6 meetings between themselves and Latvia.
Onto Latvia and they too sit on 3 points thanks to draws with Andorra along with home and away stalemates against second placed Kazakhstan. Back-to-back defeats to Georgia have resulted in Latvia sweating on this final group match as they’ll be keen to avoid finishing bottom of Group 1.
Latvia have also found victories a rare commodity as they’ve recorded just one victory from their last 13 matches overall, which was a 1-0 home win over Estonia. It’s also 13 matches without a win on their travels, which includes failing to score in 7 of these 13 on the road.
This is therefore a tussle between two very ordinary sides who lack the cutting edge to record all three points, and this match looks like it could well be heading towards a dour and dull 0-0 stalemate, so my betting tips fancy a low-scoring affair here.
