Arsenal Prediction

Despite an encouraging and impressive start to the season in this year’s Premier League under the new tenure of manager Unai Emery, Arsenal find themselves in familiar territory as they sit in the Europa League qualifier spot of 5th place and a massive 16 points off league leaders, Liverpool.

Once a regular fixture in the ‘Top Four’, Arsenal have steadily lost ground on the clubs above them and now find themselves down the pecking order and vying with either Chelsea, Tottenham, or these days, Manchester United to claim that all-important fourth place finish and the promise of Champions League football.

Nevertheless, Arsenal will be rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of the visit of Cardiff City to their Emirates Stadium this evening as Arsenal look to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United and build upon their recent 2-0 home win over Chelsea last time out in the Premier League.

The Gunners have won their last five home matches on the trot in the top flight and possess an impressive home record of 9-2-1 26/10. Forwards Aubameyang (14 goals) and Lacazette (8 goals) will look to put Cardiff City to the sword here.

Key-Facts – Arsenal v Cardiff City

  • Arsenal have won their last 5 home matches on the trot in the Premier League
  • Cardiff City have won 1 of their last 7 matches overall in the EPL
  • Cardiff City have conceded 2 goals or more in 6 of their 11 away matches to date

Cardiff City Prediction

Cardiff City’s preparations for their trip to Arsenal have understandably been distracted by the tragedy surrounding the disappearance of their new signing, Nantes striker Emiliano Sala, as The Bluebirds and the footballing world are trying to come to terms with what’s happened over the past week or so.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock and his players are understandably shocked by the recent events and whilst they desperately hope for a positive outcome, they have a difficult fixture in London against Arsenal to play this Tuesday night.

Warnock claims he ‘welcomes the distraction’ but in truth his club face an almost impossible task of getting anything out of an Arsenal side who have been excellent at home in the league so far this season.

Cardiff have managed just one win from their last seven matches which was an unlikely 1-0 win away at Leicester City, but two defeats from their last three matches against Tottenham and Newcastle United have thrust Cardiff City back into the relegation zone.

With a poor away record of 1-2-8 6/21 and conceding 2 goals or more in 6 of their 11 away matches to date, this looks a very tall order for the Welsh club here.

Betting Tips Verdict

Arsenal should sweep aside Cardiff at The Emirates with goals coming along for the ride, but the football is the least important thing in this fixture.
