Preview: There should be a noticeable spring in the step of both teams when Arsenal and Crystal Palace take to the field at Emirates Stadium for Monday Night Football. The Gunners are unbeaten in four while The Eagles, who’ve not lost here since 2018, have only lost one of their last six in the league.

Arsenal – Gunners turned another corner under Arteta?

Suddenly, calls for Mikel Arteta to leave his role as Arsenal manager have fallen silent following an upturn in results that has seen the Gunners claim ten of the last twelve points (W3 D1). Their momentum was checked last time out in Brighton, however, as a goalless draw on the south coast brought their three game winning run to an end and left them in the Premier League’s bottom half over the international break.

Arsenal have won four of their last five Premier League home games, though, and another on Monday would see them win three in a row at the Emirates for the first time in over a year. They were magnificent in their most recent outing in North London, putting arch-rivals Tottenham to the sword from the outset in a 3-1 win inspired by the first-half brilliance of Emile Smith-Rowe, who came away with a goal and an assist.

Another energetic start wouldn’t go amiss on Monday. However, Arsenal must be careful not to leave themselves open in search of an early advantage, with no team in the Premier League this season conceding more goals in the first half than their six. Particularly as they understand the threat Crystal Palace pose. The Gunners are without a win in their past three home meetings with the Eagles (D2 L1).

Crystal Palace – Goals flowing but less so on the road?

With Monday night opponents Arsenal conceding once across their last four league fixtures, Patrick Viera knows his Crystal Palace side will need to take their chances when they come if they are to secure a positive result in North London. The signs are promising, however, as since opening the new league campaign with successive blanks, the Eagles have found the net eight times in five subsequent league games.

This increased level of productivity has to be placed into context, though, as only two out of eight goals thus far were scored away from home. Those both came in their 2-2 draw away to West Ham, a game Conor Gallagher netted a brace to open his account since signing on loan from Chelsea. Palace were unable to affect the scoring in either of their trips to Chelsea or Liverpool, losing 3-0 both times.

Fortunately, Arsenal are not yet at the same level of that duo. Palace are aware of this first hand having taken points from each of the last three visits to the Emirates, scoring five across these games. Viera therefore has every reason to be confident about his team’s chances, even more so after seeing them lose one of the last six in the league (W1 D4). Scoring two or more in three of their last five.

Arsenal Vs Crystal Palace Betting Advice

Both managers can feel reasonably satisfied with the progress made by their respective teams of late, following disappointing starts to the campaign. Arsenal have bounced back admirably from losing each of their first three matches, winning three of the next four (D1). Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have only been beaten the once since the opening weekend and are looking much more threatening in the attacking third.

Arsenal Vs Crystal Palace – Key Facts:

  • Crystal Palace are looking to avoid defeat away to Arsenal in the Premier League for the fourth season in a row, picking up five points from their last three visits (W1 D2).
  • Since losing their first three league games of the season (conceding nine in these games), Arsenal are unbeaten in four (W3 D1) having conceded only once in this timeframe.
  • Crystal Palace come into the game unbeaten in five of the last six league games (W1 D4 L1) but having scored six of their eight goals this season at home.

Three clean sheets in four games, conceding only once, is formidable defensive form from Arsenal, with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale excelling thus far. However, this Crystal Palace side have shown a willingness to to press from the front and commit numbers to attack when given the opportunity to do so. This fixture is renowned for goals, too, with Over 3.5 Goals returning in three of the last four here at the Emirates.
