Arsenal Prediction – Can Arsenal click under Arteta?

Arsenal will be desperately hoping in a change of fortunes as they enter 2020 with new manager and former player, Mikel Arteta, at the helm as they prepare for the visit of Manchester United on New Years Day, having failed to win any of their last 4 matches of 2019.

Defeats to Manchester City 3-0 at home and a bitterly disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Chelsea have underlined Arsenal’s failings in defence and especially their inability to hold onto a lead as they were 1-0 up against Chelsea, only to lose 2-1.

This is indeed a worrying sign for Arsenal as their long-held ability to grind out results (or at least avoid defeat) at their Emirates Stadium has seemingly been lost as The Gunners are without a home win from their last 6 matches in the Premier League and have lost their last 3 matches on the trot at the Emirates Stadium.

As a result of winning just 1 of their last 12 matches overall in the top flight, Arsenal now sit in 12th place with an average looking home record of 3-4-3 15/17, but 8 of Arsenal’s 10 home matches have seen both teams score.

Manchester United Prediction – Can Man Utd win three on the trot?

The visitors have registered recent back-to-back wins against Newcastle United 4-1 and a 2-0 win away from home at Burnley, so United will be in confident mood as they make their way down to the nation’s capital, no doubt looking to heap further misery upon this out-of-sorts Arsenal outfit.

Manchester United have lost just 1 of their last 9 matches overall in the Premier League which has helped them into 5th place and just 4 points behind Chelsea, so a top four finish is certainly in United’s sights this season.

Results away from home though continue to be a mixed bag for the Red Devils as they’ve registered wins at local neighbours, Manchester City 2-1 and the aforementioned 2-0 win at Burnley, but they’ve also stumbled to surprising defeats at Bournemouth and Watford in recent weeks too.

An away record of 3-3-4 12/13 is also a disappointing return on their travels and is similar to Arsenal’s record at the Emirates this term, and while United always pose a goalscoring threat, the visitors have managed just 1 clean sheet on the road all season.

Key-Facts – Arsenal vs Manchester United

  • 8 of Arsenal’s 10 home matches have seen both teams score
  • Manchester United have kept just 1 clean sheet in 10 away matches
  • 5 of the last 6 meetings between these two sides have seen both teams score

Betting Tips Verdict

Arsenal cannot afford another defeat while United continue to score and concede on a regular basis on their travels.
