This is a much stiffer challenge for her though against the heavy-serving, heavy-hitting Sabalenka.
So Kasatkina’s defence is going to have to be on point in this one.
Since the return of the season, the form has deserted Kasatkina a little bit as well but she looked as if she was returning to form at the Italian Open.
That’s important because it was a clay event and Kasatkina cruised through the first two rounds of that action.
She bowed out in the third round, having to retire at 6-6 in the opening set of an engrossing duel with Victoria Azarenka.
