This will be the second meeting between Aryna Sabalenka and Daria Kasatkina only and it is one of the picks of the second round.

These are two very good young players on the WTA Tour and this should be a great scrap between the two of them.

Kasatkina got the win in the only clash between them so far. Will Sabalenka be able to turn the tables?

Aryna Sabalenka Preview – Can Sabalenka get past tricky second round opponent?

Aryna Sabalenka has been busy since the season was restarted. She looks to be on the hunt for a bit of form too.

She never got herself going in the Top Seed Open, the following Western & Southern Open nor the US Open.

She was a second-round loser at Flushing Meadows, struggling badly against a resurgent Victoria Azarenka at that stage.

The Belarusian is the 8/13 odds-on favourite for this one* (odds taken 00:49 GMT Wednesday 30th September).

That was after starting to show a little bit of form at the Strasbourg Grand Prix, just ahead of the French Open.

Sabalenka made the semi finals at that tournament, falling in three sets at that stage to Elina Svitolina.

But even in that run, Sabalekna was dropping sets, needing three sets to get past two much lower-ranked opponents in the second and third rounds.

So there’s a chance that this one could go the distance and Total Sets 3 for tennis betting is at 5/4 and a reasonable option* (odds taken 00:49 GMT Wednesday 30th September).

Our betting prediction:
Kasatkina 2-1

The previous meeting between Sabelnka and Kasatkina happened last year in Beijing, with Sabalenka going down in straight sets.

This is just the third appearance in the main draw of the French Open for the young Belarusian, who had first-round and second-round exits in those previous two.

Only twice in eleven Grand Slam events has Sablenka made it past the second round.

Daria Kasatkina Preview – Kasatkina could spring an underdog success

Russia’s Daria Kasatkina opened her French Open account in impressive style, dropping just three games in beating Harmony Tan.

This is a much stiffer challenge for her though against the heavy-serving, heavy-hitting Sabalenka.

So Kasatkina’s defence is going to have to be on point in this one.

Since the return of the season, the form has deserted Kasatkina a little bit as well but she looked as if she was returning to form at the Italian Open.

That’s important because it was a clay event and Kasatkina cruised through the first two rounds of that action.

She bowed out in the third round, having to retire at 6-6 in the opening set of an engrossing duel with Victoria Azarenka.

So it is just that touch of clay quality that she has, which piques interest in backing her in tennis betting at 13/10* (odds taken 00:49 GMT Wednesday 30th September).

She has a little more in her French Open history than Sabalenka does as well.

Daria Kasatkina was a surprise quarter finalist at the 2018 French Open, having put together a brilliant run to get there.

In her four previous appearances at the tournament, she has only failed to make it to the third round once before.

More likely than not she is going to be very much in this match, and we see a lot of value in backing her to come good.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Daria Kasatkina Betting Advice

Daria Kasatkina has made it to two Grand Slam quarter finals in her short career, far above what Sabalenka has achieved.

She has tanked to first round exits in the Australian Open and the US Open this year, but she looks to be up and running well on clay this season.

There has been decent recent form for her.

  • Aryna Sabalenka lost her one previous match against Kasatkina
  • Aryna Sabalenka is ranked 12th in the world, Kasatkina 71st

With Sabalenka dropping a set in all but one of her recent matches in Prague, we feel there is a big chance for Kasatkina here.
