Italian outfit, AS Roma, find themselves chasing this second leg in Rome on Tuesday night following their 2-1 first leg defeat away at Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, but there’s everything still left to play for in this clash.
Since that loss to their Ukraine opponents, Roma then suffered a 2-0 loss at home to AC Milan in Serie A, but have since staged a spirited comeback with back-to-back wins over second placed Napoli 4-2 away from home, and a convincing 3-0 home win over mid-table Torino on the weekend.
Roma will press forward from the off here, and although they’re behind at kick-off, their away goal in the first leg may yet help them achieve a quarter-final place at the end of tonight’s match. Roma’s leading goalscorer, Dzeko (13 goals) is expected to return to the home side’s line-up tonight.
Shakhtar Donetsk are still very much in this tie as they secured a 2-1 win in the first leg, but they may rue allowing Roma a foot in the door after conceding the goal in the home leg. The Ukraine club though are in scintillating form at the moment, as they’ve collected six wins on the trot in all competitions, and won’t be too fazed by a trip to Rome on Tuesday night.
The visitors also possess some key attacking personnel who could cause plenty of damage to Roma’s hopes of progressing through to the next round in the shape of striker Ferreyra (19 goals) along with midfielders Marlos (13 goals) and Bernard (6 goals).
Shakhtar may also exploit Roma on the counter-attack here as the Italians push forward, and so I’m going for both teams to score here.
