Thursday night sees the start of the first legs of the play-offs in the Europa League and my next pick features Italian side, Atalanta, taking on Danish outfit, Copenhagen with more betting tips on the European stage.
Atalanta come into this clash having won nine of their last ten matches overall which includes winning their last six on the trot. Within this impressive sequence Atalanta have progressed through the early qualifying rounds of the Europa League with wins over Sarajevo 10-2 on aggregate and Hapoel Haifa 6-1 over the two legs.
In addition, the hosts have made a good start to their new domestic Serie A campaign with a resounding 4-0 win over Frosinone. Forwards Zapata and Barrow are the danger men up front for the Italian outfit.
Copenhagen have also made it through the various qualifying rounds of this competition to reach the play-off stages following wins over KuPS 2-1 on aggregate, Stjarnan 7-0 on aggregate and a 4-2 aggregate win over CSKA Sofia.
The visitors have won their last three away ties in the Europa League on the trot with away leg wins against the aforementioned clubs, but they’re likely to face their biggest test yet in the shape of Atalanta over these upcoming two legs.
However, the Danish club haven’t always been convincing on the road at this level as they’d previously been on the end of defeats at Ajax, Lokomitiv Moscow and Atletico Madrid.
This looks set to be an interesting encounter but with their impressive recent run of form and home advantage behind them in this first leg, my betting tips suggest a home win for Atalanta here.
