Football – Europe – Europa League Betting Tips

Thursday night also brings us the all-important second legs of the Europa League semi-finals, and my next pick features the exploits of the last remaining English team in this competition, Arsenal, as they make their way over to Spain to take on the hosts, Atletico Madrid.

Taking a look at Atletico Madrid first, and they now appear to have the slight advantage ahead of this second leg at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano after holding Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, which was a very solid result for the Spanish side, not only because they stay on level terms ahead of this return leg, but also capturing what could be a vital away goal as well in the dying seconds of the first leg.

Atletico Madrid have lost four in their last 12 matches overall in the Europa League, but their home record in this competition is very strong indeed as they’ve won 16 of their last 17 on home turf, and they look the team to beat from the last four teams left remaining in the competition.

The hosts have won their last three on the trot, all to nil, against Copenhagen, Lokomotiv Moscow and Sporting CP, while their attacking armoury includes the likes of Griezmann (19 goals), Correa (8 goals) and Gameiro (7 goals). Former Chelsea forward, Diego Costa may also feature at some point.

Onto Arsenal, and they were literally within seconds of securing what would have been a vital first leg win over Atletico Madrid in last week’s first leg tie at the Emirates, but Atletico prove they never give up by sneaking that dramatic equaliser, and now The Gunners face a tough return leg in Madrid on Thursday night.

Following that disappointment, Arsene Wenger then had to endure another late goal against his Arsenal side, this time in the Premier League to his old foe, Jose Mourinho, as Manchester United grabbed all three points in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

This is not the sort of preparation or psychological edge you need when travelling to take on Atletico Madrid, and as Arsenal will also be without striker Aubameyang who is cup-tied for Europa League matches, as well as winning just twice in their last 12 away matches in all competitions, is this the end of Arsenal’s european dreams this season?
