Villarreal still occupy one of the relegation places in La Liga despite losing just once from their last five matches although they’re now just two points adrift of Celta Vigo and safety thanks to a resounding 3-0 home win over Sevilla last time out at their Estadio de la Cerámica which handed the visitors only their second win from their last 18 matches overall in the Spanish top flight.
Turning to results away from home though and you’ll notice that Villarreal are without an away win from their last eight matches on their travels amidst an ordinary looking away record of 2-5-4 10/14 which includes failing to score in their last three away matches on the trot.
Villarreal’s last win on the road was way back at the end of September when they ran out comfortable winners over Athletic Bilbao in a 3-0 win, but since then, the wins have eluded Javi Calleja’s men and their best chances of getting something out of Atletico Madrid on Sunday appears to be a draw.
