La Liga Betting at Marathonbet

Atletico Madrid Prediction

Atletico Madrid occupy second place behind Barcelona who hold a 10-point lead at the top of the division but the hosts will come into this clash in confident mood having secured what could be a vital 2-0 win in the first leg of the round of 16 tie against Italian club, Juventus, in the Champions League during the week.

Atletico now return to domestic action at their Estadio Wanda Metropolitano where they’ll look to build upon their recent 1-0 win away at Rayo Vallecano last time out in La Liga as they bounced back from two defeats on the trot to Real Betis (away) and a heavy 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the recent local derby.

Overall form though has been pretty steady having won four of their last six with victories gained over Levante, Huesca, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano while their record at home stands at a solid looking 9-2-1 20/7 which includes four wins from their last five on home turf as well as no fewer than 8 clean sheets from their 12 home matches to date.

Key-Facts – Atletico Madrid v Villarreal

  • Atletico Madrid have won 4 out of their last 5 matches at home in La Liga
  • Atletico Madrid have kept 8 clean sheets at home so far this season
  • Villarreal are without an away win from their last 8 matches on their travels

Villarreal Prediction

Villarreal still occupy one of the relegation places in La Liga despite losing just once from their last five matches although they’re now just two points adrift of Celta Vigo and safety thanks to a resounding 3-0 home win over Sevilla last time out at their Estadio de la Cerámica which handed the visitors only their second win from their last 18 matches overall in the Spanish top flight.

Turning to results away from home though and you’ll notice that Villarreal are without an away win from their last eight matches on their travels amidst an ordinary looking away record of 2-5-4 10/14 which includes failing to score in their last three away matches on the trot.

Villarreal’s last win on the road was way back at the end of September when they ran out comfortable winners over Athletic Bilbao in a 3-0 win, but since then, the wins have eluded Javi Calleja’s men and their best chances of getting something out of Atletico Madrid on Sunday appears to be a draw.

Betting Tips Verdict

We need to be wary of the draw here, but I’m confident that Atletico Madrid possess the necessary quality to see off Villarreal here and continue their course for Champions League football next season.
