Atletico Madrid Preview – Can Atletico win five on bounce?
Last weekend’s season-opening 2-1 win away from home at Celta Vigo not only handed Atletico Madrid the perfect start to their new La Liga campaign but it also became the hosts’ fourth league win on the trot in the Spanish top flight.
Atletico rounded off last season’s successful title-winning campaign with three victories on the trot with wins against Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Real Valladolid respectively, to lift the domestic league crown.

Elche Preview – Can Elche avoid another relegation battle?
Elche started the new La Liga season with a solid point at home in a 0-0 draw with Athletic Bilbao which also extended Elche’s unbeaten run in the Spanish top flight to three matches overall following back-to-back wins at the end of last season.
Victories over Cadiz and Athletic Bilbao effectively saved Elche from relegation as the visitors finished just one league position and two points above the relegation zone but this Sunday’s trip to face the title-winners could see them come undone.
Having won just one of their last 17 away games, 12 of these ending in defeats, Elche may have to wait until next week to add to their points tally.
