Welcome to my World Cup 2018 betting tips, and Australia take on Peru in Group C in the final group game in what is a must-win tussle for Australia if they’re to have any chance of emerging from this difficult group.
Australia earned their first point of their World Cup campaign recently when they held Denmark to a 1-1 draw which was a well earned point for the Socceroos following their opening group match defeat to France.
Against the French, Australia stifled and suffocated the talented French outfit as they went into half-time level at 1-1, but then conceded late on in the second half to a Paul Pogba effort which went in off the bar and needed confirmation from the VAR for the goal to stand.
Although Australia possess the likes of Premier League players such as goalkeeper Ryan, Mooy and Jedinak, their game is often based around a hard-working, hard tackling approach where they’ll look to create opportunities from set-pieces.
Peru surprisingly sit bottom of Group C having suffered back-to-back defeats to Denmark 1-0 and France 1-0 which has resulted in them leaving the World Cup finals after this final encounter against Australia at the Fisht Stadium, but they’ll be keen to go out with a bang no doubt.
Although Peru have lost both of their group matches so far, both have been narrow defeats amidst an attritional background, and they still have the personnel to make life very difficult for their opponents this evening with the likes of Guerrero, Flores, Cueva and Carrillo all capable of posing some very serious questions in the final third.
In what is expected to be a tough and attritional encounter, it could well be a flash of individual brilliance that settles this encounter, and my betting tips suggest it may well come from the Peruvian camp.
