We are in Perth for the Australia v England rugby betting as we focus on the opening Test of this series.

There’s always something special about clashes between these two sides.

England have dominated the recent head-to-head meetings, but on paper, this one looks as if it’s going to be a tight contest.

Australia Preview – Can the Wallabies pick up their form?

The Autumn internationals weren’t great for Australia as they lost all three matches against Six Nations opposition.

Their Tour in November started with a victory over Japan but then defeats followed against Scotland, England and Wales.

On their visit to Twickenham, Australia suffered a 32-15 defeat.

That Tour for the Wallabies did come at the end of the Rugby Championships.

Maybe there was a hangover from that.

Australia were runners-up in the 2021 Rugby Championship to New Zealand with a W 4 L2 record.

For Australia v England Rugby betting, the hosts are 8/11 favourites* (odds recorded 17:49 GMT on June 30th 2022 at William Hill)

The last time that Australia hosted England there was an absolute humdinger of a match.

Australia was narrowly on the losing end in a 40-44 thriller.

That was back in 2016 when England coach Eddie Jones could apparently do no wrong.

Australia were defeated 3-0 in the Test series.

The Wallabies, who have big experience in fly-half Quade Cooper and scrum-half Nic White will be desperate to snap their losing streak against England.

It’s eight consecutive defeats for the Wallabies against their old rivals.

Australia Line-Up

Banks; Kellaway, Ikitau, Kerevi, Koroibete; Cooper, White; Bell, Porecki, Alaalatoa, Swain, Neville, Leota, Hooper (capt), Valetini.

Replacements: Fainga’a, Sio, Slipper, Philip, Samu, Gordon, Lolesio, Petaia.

England Preview – What do Tourists have?

The 2022 Six Nations was a total bust for England as they posted only a W2 L3 record.

A series of poor performances, not helped by players playing out of position, hampered England.

It also put pressure on head coach Eddie Jones.

But he remains in charge with an eye on the next Rugby World Cup.

England are 6/5 underdogs in the match outright for rugby betting on the weekend* (odds recorded 17:49 GMT on June 30th 2022 at William Hill)

Eddie Jones has a perfect eight wins in eight matches against his home country as England boss.

Can he keep that streak going and take some pressure off his shoulders?

It’s clear from this year’s Six Nations that England do need to change something.

One big change is that Courtney Lawes is captain ahead of the returning Owen Farrell.

While England have a strong forward pack, it can be argued that Eddie Jones really has never found the right three-quarters combination.

For Saturday, Owen Farrell is at the inside centre alongside Joe Marchant, with Marcus Smith at Fly-Half.

England go with Danny Care at scrum-half, which should help them in terms of moving the ball through hands quicker.

Joe Cokanasiga makes an appearance on the wing after being out of the international setup for the best part of a year.

England have at least had that Six Nations campaign this year.

So they have had a more recent look at their players compared to Australia.

Both teams clearly have bigger ambitions of higher levels than what either are playing at right now.

Who comes out of the blocks the fastest?

England Line-Up

Steward, Nowell, Marchant, Farrell, Cokanasiga; Smith, Care; Genge, George, Stuart, Itoje, Hill, Lawes (capt), Curry, B Vunipola.
Replacements: Cowan-Dickie, M Vunipola, Heyes, Chessum, Ludlam, Van Poortlviet, Porter, Arundell.

Australia vs England Betting Advice

Australia are trying to turn around their fortunes as it’s not been a great time for them.

Their efforts under Dave Rennie in the Autumn Internationals exposed some of their weaknesses.

There could be an opportunity for England to disrupt them, so it’s the 6/5 pick on the tourists that is our first rugby betting tip* (odds recorded 17:49 GMT on June 30th 2022 at William Hill)

Key Facts – Australia vs England Betting Tip

  • Australia lost to England, Scotland and Wales in the Autumn Internationals
  • Australia lost their last home series against England 3-0
  • England have won their last eight matches against Australia

England’s back line has been a clear issue for them for a long time now, with Eddie Jones never unlocking that true potential they have.

England do, however, have more match-winners than their opponents and the Care/Smith partnership could be the key for England.

They are likely to be a little less predictable than the Australian duo of White/Cooper.

England 1-5 winning margin at 5/1* (odds recorded 17:49 GMT on June 30th 2022 at William Hill)
