Austria Preview – Comfortable victory for the group leaders?
Franco Foda’s Austria have had a fine Nations League campaign so far, winning three of their opening four matches. After starting with a 2-1 win over Norway in Oslo, they were beaten at home by Romania.
The Austrians have won back-to-back games since that loss to the Romanians, though, with both wins coming against Northern Ireland. A Michael Gregoritsch goal gave them a 1-0 win in Belfast. Austria then won 1-0 against Norn Iron at home, with an own goal from Stuart Dallas doing the business.
Three points for Foda’s men on Sunday will take them a step closer to promotion to League A. At the time of writing, the home side are the clear favourites to get the win.
Northern Ireland Preview – Can Norn Iron cause an upset in Vienna?
Northern Ireland suffered Euro 2020/21 play-off heartache on Thursday, narrowly losing at home to Slovakia. Ian Baraclough has had a tough time as Norn Iron boss so far, but the nation will want to end a poor Nations League campaign on a high.
Northern Ireland actually started well, with a Gavin Whyte goal giving the Green and White Army a decent 1-1 draw with Romania in Bucharest. Since then, though, the Irish have lost three in a row in League B, Group 1, including an embarrassing 5-1 reverse to Norway at Windsor Park last month.
