Ayr United bring a solid nine-match unbeaten sequence into this clash as they sit in second spot and three points behind Ross County at the top of the Championship. However, Ayr will be keen to convert all three points on Saturday afternoon following a recent spate of draws.
The hosts have been involved in five draws in their last six matches overall but they did record a resounding 5-0 win away at Dundee United at the beginning of December. By contrast, Falkirk bring a four-match run without a win in the Championship into this encounter as the visitors sit bottom of the league and six points adrift of Alloa Athletic and the safety of 8th place in the Scottish second tier.
Falkirk drew home matches with Alloa Athletic and Greenock Morton in 2-2 and 0-0 stalemates respectively, but have since fallen to back-to-back defeats to Dundee United and Dunfermline prior to this Saturday’s clash at Somerset Park.
Although Falkirk have picked up recent wins at Dunfermline and Inverness, the visitors still possess an ordinary looking away record of 3-0-6 10/14 with just two clean sheets gained so far on their travels this season.
This could be an important factor in this tussle as Falkirk will be up against the Championship’s leading goalscorer here, and they look to have their work cut out if they’re to avoid defeat.
