AZ Preview – Can AZ make it four straight league wins for the first time this season?
It’s been a stop/start season for AZ in many ways. Having been so consistent last season before the cancellation, they’ve been unable to match those sort of standards this time around. As such, rather than targeting the title, their sights have been lowered to fight for second spot which would bring with it a place in next season’s Champions League qualifiers. AZ are currently third and four points behind PSV who occupy second spot coming into this weekend.
With 11 games left, each remaining game takes on even more significance and that’s particularly so when facing teams in and around you. Pascal Jansen – who took charge of the club at the beginning of December – will be well aware of what’s at stake in this one.
Feyenoord Preview – Are Feyenoord set to draw level on points with opponents in race for a top two finish?
A title challenge was probably never realistic for Feyenoord but they are in with a shout of that second Champions League spot – particularly if they can get a win on Sunday. Dick Advocaat – who will leave his role as head coach at the end of the season – is as experienced as they come at this level. He knows the value of a win here not only in terms of the three points but also for the run-in.
Like their opponents this weekend, Feyenoord will be regretting some dropped points of late. Away draws against Gronigen and Twente have seen them fall below AZ in the table.

Feyenoord’s away form in general has been very good this season with six wins and just three defeats, but there’s no doubt it’s tailed off of late – they’ve not won in any of their last four on the road. Advocaat will be making his players aware that if that runs extends to five then second place and a potential involvement in the Champions League next season will be extremely difficult.
If they are to get an important three points then much will rely on the form of Steven Berghuis. The forward is the club’s top scorer with 13 goals and on target to beat his best tally of 18 in the league.
AZ vs Feyenoord Betting Advice
A defeat for AZ wouldn’t be the end of their top two hopes but it would be a severe blow, especially if PSV win on the same day. It would be much more critical of the visitors lose, though, and their recent form on their travels does not inspire confidence.
The neutrals amongst us will be hoping for a repeat of the meeting earlier in the season. AZ edged a five goal thriller in Rotterdam.
