League D Group 3 up next and an intriguing tussle between second placed Azerbaijan and third placed Faroe Islands with everything still to play for as the betting tips continue.
Azerbaijan still remain unbeaten so far in Group 3 having registered what could be a decisive 3-0 win away at tonight’s opponents, Faroe Islands, along with points gained against Kosovo and home and away draws with Malta.
The hosts are two points adrift of surprise package and group leaders, Kosovo ahead of this crucial Saturday night encounter, but they have a good opportunity to pull away from the Faroe Islands here and press their claims for promotion to League C.
Overall, Azerbaijan have suffered just one defeat from their last eight matches in all competitions while they’re unbeaten in their last four on home turf. Astana midfielder Almeyda (2goals) leads the way for the home side.
Faroe Islands sit in third spot and are, themselves, two points adrift of tonight’s hosts Azerbaijan who dished out a heavy 3-0 defeat in their last encounter at the Tórsvøllur ground in Torshavn back in October.
The hosts started their UEFA Nations League with a convincing 3-1 home win over Malta, but have since slumped to three matches without a win as back-to-back defeats to Kosovo and Azerbaijan along with a draw against Kosovo means they’re now four points adrift of group leaders, Kosovo.
The Faroe Islands have registered just three wins from their last 14 matches in all competitions which were all recorded at home, but recent away results have seen the Islanders lose four of their last five on their travels with losses at Switzerland, Portugal, Hungary and Kosovo.
Given Faroe Islands’ poor away form, my betting tips advise a home win here for Azerbaijan.
