Azerbaijan Prediction – Can Azerbaijan record first win?

It’s been a disappointing Euro 2020 qualifying campaign for Azerbaijan who sit rock bottom of Group E with just 1 point to their name thanks to a surprising but well earned 1-1 draw at home with group leaders, Croatia.

Unfortunately for Azerbaijan, that has been the host’s only highlight in an otherwise forgettable sequence of results in this group as they’ve suffered 5 defeats out of their total of 6 matches played to date with losses against Croatia, Hungary (home and away), Slovakia and Wales.

Results at home have also been poor for Azerbaijan when it comes to Euro qualifiers as the hosts have managed to register just 1 win out of their last 9 matches on home soil, which was a 2-0 win over Malta back in March 2015.

Matches against Wales though have been reasonably close affairs and although Wales have won the last 3 meetings on the trot against Azerbaijan, the visitors have won by a 1-goal margin in each of these 3 wins which gives Azerbaijan a glimmer of hope in keeping the scores close again this Saturday.

Wales Prediction – Can Wales keep dreams alive?

A 1-0 home win over Slovakia in their opening match in Group E gave Wales and coach, Ryan Giggs, plenty of encouragement and belief in hoping for a successful Euro 2020 qualifying campaign but subsequent back-to-back defeats away at Croatia 2-1 away and a 1-0 loss at Hungary was a big blow to the Welsh’s qualification hopes.

Wales did bounce back with a 2-1 home win over Saturday’s opponents, Azerbaijan to keep them in the frame but they were unable to produce any sort of momentum following back-to-back draws with Slovakia and Croatia, which in normal circumstances would have been considered good results, but ultimately meant that Wales lost valuable ground in the race for a top two finish.

The visitors now find themselves in 4th place and 4 points behind 2nd placed Hungary prior to this potentially tricky trip to Azerbaijan, and even if they do walk away with all three points here, they face Hungary at home in the final match of the group.

Key-Facts – Azerbaijan vs Wales

  • Azerbaijan have won just 1 of their last 9 Euro qualifiers at home
  • Wales have not won any of their last 4 Euro qualifiers away from home
  • Wales have won the last 3 meetings on the trot v Azerbaijan by 1-goal margins

Betting Tips Verdict

Azerbaijan face a tough task in getting something here but Wales haven’t travelled well either and this could be a tight clash.
