Spanish La Liga Betting at Bet365

Barcelona – Sixth straight La Liga win imminent?

That it required 12 wins from their last 13 La Liga games for Barcelona (W19 D5 L4) to close within four points of long-time league leaders Atletico Madrid shines a spotlight on how drastic their start to the season truly was. And it is a deficit which could shrink further still should Ronaldo Koeman’s red-hot side continue where they left off before the international break, when annihilating a decent Real Sociedad side.

Barca were magnificent in San Sebastien a fortnight ago, but also extremely clinical, emerging as emphatic 6-1 victors at Anoeta after bossing the contest from an xG viewpoint (RSO 1.03 – 3.35 BAR). It followed hot on the heels of the 4-1 victory at Camp Nou against rock-bottom Huesca and means five straight league wins, with that easily the longest current winning run enjoyed in La Liga at this precise moment.

Don’t expect much let up, either. With Atletico faltering and facing a daunting trek to fourth placed Sevilla in Sunday’s final encounter, Barca know there is every likelihood they can position themselves even closer to the La Liga summit. They’ve won four out of the last five at home (D1), three by a margin of at least three goals, and won the last seven home meetings between the sides by a combined 26-4.

Valladolid – Albivelotas the away day specialists?

It might not be spectacular but Valladolid (W5 D12 L11) are looking increasingly likely to confirm their continued participation in La Liga. This after a return of seven points from their last four matches helped them climb four points clear of the relegation zone in Spain’s top tier, complementing a gritty 2-1 win at home to Getafe by claiming hard-earned, low-scoring draws with Celta Vigo, Osasuna and Sevilla.

It took something extraordinary to deny them maximum points last time, meanwhile, as Sevilla goalkeeper Bono lashed home an equaliser with virtually the last kick. That would have been a big scalp for Sergio Gonzalez, whose team are yet to beat anyone of note this season – defeating an Athletic Bilbao outfit currently in ninth and preparing for two Copa del Rey finals in two weeks arguably their highlight of 2020-21.

A first win at the Camp Nou since 1997 seems far-fetched, but there is enough about them which would suggest a competitive showing is realistic. In fourteen away La Liga outings this term, only five resulted in losses (W2 D7) while none of these encounters saw them concede more than twice. They’ve lost just once on the road in eight (W1 D6 L1), in which they conceded only six times and recorded three clean sheets.

Barcelona Vs Real Valladolid Betting Advice

A case could be presented that both these teams could come to rue the timing of the recent international break, after both were threatening to build up ahead of steam. In particular Barcelona, who return having won their last five league matches (all with a winning margin of at least two goals, scoring 17 times in all). While the manner of their last victory, away to a decent Real Sociedad, was something else.

Barcelona Vs Valladolid – Key Facts:

  • Victory at Camp Nou would be an eighth on the trot for Barcelona at home to Valladolid, who were beaten 5-1 in last season’s corresponding fixture.
  • Barcelona are seeking a sixth straight La Liga victory, having won their last five fixtures by a combined 17-2. They’re unbeaten in 18 (W15 D3) since a 2-1 loss away to Cadiz on 5 December.
  • Valladolid, with one loss in their last eight away matches (W1 D6 L1) can extend their unbeaten run in La Liga to five should they avoid defeat at the Camp Nou for the first time since 2003.

Barcelona could run riot here, as has been the case in some of their recent home games (5-1 vs Alaves, 3-0 vs Elche, 4-1 vs Huesca). This Valladolid side are made of sterner stuff, though, with only six conceded across their previous eight away La Liga games (W1 D6 L1). Six of their last seven league games went Under 2.5 Goals, while none of the fourteen sides to have already hosted Valladolid scored more than twice.
