The Sky Blues celebrated their long-awaited return to their home with a comeback win last weekend, but the Tykes are the clear favourites in this one. After starting with a good draw in South Wales, can Barnsley put a big three points on the board on Saturday? Check out the best betting odds and predictions.

Barnsley Preview – Will the Tykes take the points on home turf?

Barnsley were the surprise package in the 2020-21 Championship. Valerien Ismael took the Tykes from relegation fodder to the play-offs. They may have lost out to Swansea City in the semi-finals, but it was a memorable season for the South Yorkshire side.

Ismael left in the summer to take over at West Bromwich Albion, with Austrian Markus Schopp replacing the Frenchman at Oakwell. Barnsley started their season with a 1-1 draw with Mick McCarthy’s Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium. The Tykes were arguably the better team and maybe should have won in Wales.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No

Barnsley were knocked out of the EFL Cup by EFL League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in midweek. They lost on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal time at the University of Bolton Stadium. Can Schopp’s side bounce back with a win here?

Coventry City Preview – Can the Sky Blues leave with a positive result?

After a turbulent few years, Coventry City are finally back at the Coventry Building Society Arena (formerly known as the Ricoh Arena). They kicked off their campaign with a comeback win in front of their home fans last Sunday. Two goals in the last ten minutes gave the Sky Blues a memorable 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Coventry had a decent home record last term, winning ten, drawing seven and losing six of their 23 league matches at St Andrew’s. However, Mark Robins’ men struggled on the road, picking up just four wins. Only Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe Wanderers – who were both relegated – accumulated fewer away points.

Coventry were excellent at home last weekend, but this will be a stern test on their travels for the West Midlands club. Still, can City leave Yorkshire with a positive result?

Barnsley played well at the Cardiff City Stadium last weekend, and they should follow up that draw with three points on home soil. We like the look of the home team to be winning at half time and full time at 9/4.

Cauley Woodrow had a fine season at Oakwell last time around, scoring 12 Championship goals. Woodrow is the 9/2 favourite to net the first goal of this one.
