Barnsley Preview – Will the Tykes return to winning ways?
Valerien Ismael has done a fine job at Barnsley since taking over in October, with the Frenchman guiding the Tykes to ten wins from 20 Championship games. The Yorkshire side are currently in 12th position with 36 points to their name.
However, Barnsley have been in poor form since the turn of the year. After a 2-1 win at Rotherham United on December 29th, which was a fifth victory in six, Ismael’s boys have failed to win any of their following five in the Championship. Derby County Preview – Can Rooney guide the Rams to a fourth win in five?
Wayne Rooney’s first official game in charge ended in a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Rotherham on January 16th. However, Derby County have certainly turned things around in recent weeks, claiming Championship victories over Bournemouth, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City. On Wednesday at the New York Stadium, though, they were beaten 3-0 by Rotherham.
Despite a recent upswing in fortunes, Derby still have plenty of work to do in their fight for survival. At the time of writing, County are down in 20th place with 28 points to their name. After the midweek loss at Rotherham, the Rams will be hoping to strike back with three points on the road this weekend.
