Werder Bremen climbed into a more respectable mid-table position in the German top flight thanks to a recent 4-2 home win against Schalke 04 which extended Werder Bremen’s unbeaten run to eight matches overall.
Wins over Hannover 96, Augsburg and Schalke 04 along with five draws have helped Werder Bremen remain at arms length from the relegation battle below them as they now hold a healthy 16-point cushion ahead of the third from bottom club Stuttgart.
Indeed, Werder Bremen are now just six points adrift of their hosts, Bayer Leverkusen, and all three points here would really see them making a serious claim on one of the European qualifying spots.
However, with just one away win from their last eight matches on their travels suggest that taking all three points against an in-form Bayer Leverkusen outfit would seem highly unlikely, with that one win being a 1-0 win at second from bottom club Hannover.
