Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Live Stats & Betting Odds

Bayern Munich Preview – Can Bayern continue recent resurgence and continue moving up the table?

Hans Flick has transformed Bayern’s fortunes since taking charge on an interim basis and he’s done nothing that would harm his chances of being in charge on longer term basis. Following Niko Kovac’s sacking after a humbling defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt has seen an instant improvement in performances and results. Bayern come into this weekend’s match on the back of four straight wins – two each in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Those four wins have seen Bayern score 16 times without conceding and they are looking like a totally different team playing with much more freedom. Bayern are currently in fourth spot but only a point behind leaders Borussia Monchengladbach. If RB Leipzig fail to win earlier on on Saturday then a win for the hosts could see them go top ahead of Gladbach playing the following day.

Robert Lewandowski is in sensational form this season. He has only failed to score in one league game this season and has hit 16 in 12 Bundesliga games so far. His form in Europe has been even better  netting 10 in five games including four in the win over Red Star Belgrade in midweek.

Bayer Leverkusen Preview – Can Leverkusen follow up  win in the Champions League and begin moving closer to the top four?

The aim for Bayer this season was to repeat their top four finish from last term and qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. As we approach the turn of the year then there is still work to be done for Peter Bosz’ team who are only ninth in the Bundesliga. It’s now only one win in six league games for Leverkusen and that will have to improve if they are to gain ground on the teams above them. Although only mid-table they are just five points behind their opponents coming into this match. That will give Bosz belief that his team can begin climbing the table if they can put a few results together.

There are signs that Bayer are improving. Their last four games have seen them win three and draw one across domestic and European competition. Tuesday’s 2-0 win in Moscow against Lokomotiv has put Leverkusen in with a decent chance of progressing to the knockout phase of the Champions League. They sit a point behind Atletico Madrid in second place with one game to go and will have to win at home to Juventus, hoping Atleti slip up in their match.

Key-Facts – Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen

  • Han Flick has won all four games since being appointed interim manager with an aggregate score of 16-0
  • Leverkusen have won three of their last four in all competitions but remain in ninth spot and have to find more consistency in the league
  • It’s been over seven years since Leverkusen won in Munich although they did beat Bayern at home back in February

Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Betting Advice

This is a big game for both sides as Bayern look to move closer to top spot and make it five straight wins whilst Leverkusen attempt to close the gap between themselves and and the top four. It’s a big ask, of course, for the visitors who have not won here since 2012. They will also be very wary of how much improvement that Bayern have shown under Flick.

Considering how good the home team have been of late and the form of Lewandowski, it’s hard to see how this game is anything other than a comfortable win for the Champions. Their clean sheet record may be under threat as Leverkusen have scored in all but two of their league games. Bayern to win with at least three goals in the game looks to be a rock solid bet on this occasion.
