That is now 15 wins out of 16 in the league for Hansi Flick’s well-oiled machine, which could take some stopping once the Champions League resumes. Bayern could have the egde in that competition after returning to competitive action earlier than anyone else. Not since December, meanwhile, has this team suffered defeat in any competition. That it occurred in this fixture’s reverse, though, losing 3-0 at Borussia-Park, should serve as ample warning.
Last season, Bayern were punished for never getting going, falling two goals behind early on to which they never recovered. Three defeats across five previous league encounters with Gladbach, meaning as formidable as the record champions have been of late, they best be wary. Particularly as there is no Robert Lewandowski this weekend, the prolific Pole out through suspension.

A bright start initially, powering to an impressive-on-the-eye victory in Frankfurt first time out following the lockdown, has since been something of a struggle. It would be a bold call to suggest Marco Rose’s men can achieve something similar with the form Bayern are currently in, especially with Alessane Plea serving a suspension.
