Bayern Munich Preview – Will Bayern go on a winning run following last weekend’s convincing victory?
There’s no doubt that Bayern are involved in a title race that they probably wouldn’t have expected to be just a few weeks ago. Since coming back from winning the Club World Cup, the champions have taken just four points from three league games. That has coincided with RB Leipzig going on a winning run which has cut the gap to just two points between the sides.
Due to the success and mentality this team have then a challenge is not something they are going to shirk from and if their last two games – a 4-1 win away to Lazio in the Champions League and 5-1 romp at home to Koln – suggest they are going to respond well to it.
Borussia Dortmund Preview – Can Dortmund get a rare victory in Munich to improve their chances of a top four finish?
Any hopes of the title are long gone for an inconsistent and frustrating Dortmund team. Instead, their sights are firmly focused on securing a top four spot which will bring Champions League football. And considering the financial impact of the past year, that is crucial for this club. It’s a battle that will likely go to the wire with four teams set to compete for two spots. Whilst another few clubs lurk just below that pack.
Dortmund are currently three points behind fourth place Eintracht Frankfurt. Although not where they want to be it’s definitely an improvement following a good recent run.

Erdin Terzic has led Dortmund to four straight wins in all competitions. An indication of their inconsistency is that if they win here on Saturday it will be the first time they have won five consecutive matches for over a year. Their most recent victory came away to Borussia Monchengladbach which booked them a place in the semi-final of the German Cup.
Terzic also has to contend with a huge European match just three days later when Dortmund clash with Sevilla for their second leg. A tie which they lead 3-2 after an excellent come-from-behind win in Spain.
Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Advice
Dortmund certainly don’t come here in the position they wish to be but their recent form has been good. This is undoubtedly the ultimate test for the visitors and it’s not one they have responded well to in the recent past. Their last win here in the Bundesliga was back in 2014, although they were victorious in the German Cup back more recently in 2017.
Bayern won 3-2 when the team’s met earlier in the season but could find themselves in second spot with Leipzig playing earlier on Saturday.
Key Facts – Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Tip
- Bayern lead RB Leipzig by two points in what is increasingly looking like a head to head battle for the title
- Dortmund are looking to win their fifth consecutive match for the first time in over a year
- Bayern edged a five-goal thriller in the first meeting of the season between these teams
Bayern love this fixture and no wonder – they have scored at least three goals in five of the last seven home matches against Dortmund. I can see a similarly high-scoring game again with Bayern taking the spoils which will keep them top for another week.
