There’s no doubt that Bayern are involved in a title race that they probably wouldn’t have expected to be just a few weeks ago. Since coming back from winning the Club World Cup, the champions have taken just four points from three league games. That has coincided with RB Leipzig going on a winning run which has cut the gap to just two points between the sides.

Bayern remain undefeated at home this season with their last defeat here coming against Bayer Leverkusen in November 2019. Since then they have played 29 home matches in all competitions – winning 25 of them. It’s a formidable record for any opposition team to face up to. That said, Arminia Bielefeld were 2-0 and 3-1 up last month, the game eventually ending 3-3.
With qualification to the next round of the Champion League virtually assured, they can prioritise league matches for the next couple of weeks.

Erdin Terzic has led Dortmund to four straight wins in all competitions. An indication of their inconsistency is that if they win here on Saturday it will be the first time they have won five consecutive matches for over a year. Their most recent victory came away to Borussia Monchengladbach which booked them a place in the semi-final of the German Cup.

Terzic also has to contend with a huge European match just three days later when Dortmund clash with Sevilla for their second leg. A tie which they lead 3-2 after an excellent come-from-behind win in Spain.
