Chelsea were shell-shocked by their 3-0 defeat at home to German champions, Bayern Munich, when the two teams met in the 1st leg at Stamford Bridge back in February, but Frank Lampard’s side quickly bounced back with a FA Cup win over Liverpool which was followed by Premier League wins against Everton, Manchester City and Leicester City.
Indeed, Chelsea produced a solid campaign in the English top flight as The Blues finished in 4th place which guarantees their place in next season’s Champions League, and the London club showed they can mix it with the European big-boys as they finished runners-up in Group H behind winners, Valencia, and edging out Ajax who performed so well last season.
Chelsea were unbeaten away from home in the group stages, winning 2-1 at Lille and 1-0 at Ajax along with holding Valencia to a 2-2 draw at Valencia, but their biggest and toughest test awaits them at the Allianz Stadium this Saturday against a rampant Bayern Munich outfit.
