Bayern Munich – Red machine to go marching onwards?

Route to semi-final: Energie Cottbus 1-3, VfL Bochum 1-2, Hoffenheim 4-3, Schalke 0-1

Romping to another league title after putting seven points between themselves and a beleaguered chasing pack, Bayern Munich can afford to concentrate more energy and focus on the other competitions that are still up for grabs beginning with the defence of their DFB Pokal crown. Victory on Wednesday, meanwhile, would ensure a fourth final in five seasons for the irrepressible German champions.

Nothing it seems is capable of stopping the Bavarian juggernaut in its track at the present time. At least not anyone from these shores. Last Saturday’s dismantling of Bayer Leverkusen at BayArena making it eleven straight victories in all competitions, last failing to do so in a goalless draw at home with RB Leipzig in February, whilst maintaining their flawless record since the restart (W5).

Naturally, goals have come rather easily. Thomas Muller is arguably at the peak of his powers, certainly when it comes to creativity, registering his 20th league assist of 2019/20 last weekend. When you consider he is merely one part of a formidable, cohesive attacking unit, it really is easy believing this team has scored at least four times in three of its last four matches. Among them a 5-2 drubbing of Frankfurt at Allianz Arena.

Eintracht Frankfurt – Die Adler on another hiding to nothing?

Route to semi-final: Waldhof Mannheim 3-5, St Pauli 1-2, RB Leipzig 3-1, Werder Bremen 2-0

Still nursing the scars from last month’s bruising encounter in Bavaria, poor Frankfurt did not receive much luck when the draw for the last-four was made and are again bracing themselves for a rough ride at Allianz Arena, three weeks after they were hit for five in the league. That the second season running Eintracht Frankfurt shipped five goals in defeat away to Bayern Munich.

Omens clearly not encouraging, Die Adler can at least cling to the fact they did display plenty of spirit on their latest visit to Allianz Arena to suggest they could make a fist of things here. They are also the only team throughout 2019/20 so far to inflict a heavy defeat on the record German champions, pummelling Bayern 5-1 in Frankfurt at Commerzbank-Arena last November.

A repeat performance is not only needed but also very unlikely if Saturday’s poor display at home to struggling Mainz was any sort of hint of things to come. Losing 2-0, Adi Hutter’s side were actually beaten for only the first time since losing to Bayern, claiming seven of nine points beforehand to boost their bid for Bundesliga survival. On Wednesday they’ll attempt to survive another 90 minutes in Bavaria.

Bayern Munich Vs Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Advice

Unsurprisingly, Bayern Munich – the title tolders having beaten RB Leipzig in last season’s final – are firm favourites to book a fourth final appearance in five seasons, particularly as they are up against an Eintracht Frankfurt recently on the end of a 5-2 defeat at Allianz Arena in the league. That a fourth occasion in the past five meetings one team has scored exactly five goals.

Bayern Munich Vs Eintracht Frankfurt – Key Facts

  • Bidding to defend the cup they won in 2018/19, Bayern Munich have won each of their last 11 matches across all competitions.
  • A 2-0 home defeat versus Mainz brought about a first loss in four games for Eintracht Frankfurt, a run which came about after losing 5-2 at Allianz Arena last month.
  • One of these teams has scored exactly five goals in four of the past five meetings (Bayern 4 times, Frankfurt 1), with Bayern triumphant on four occasions.

Bet365 go 11/4 on Bayern Munich Over 4.5 Goals, which appeals considering the above statistic. Whether Bayern push themselves to score another five or not, goals are usually guaranteed when these sides collide – the last seven meetings producing a minimum of three match goals, while only one fell below four goals. Therefore, Bayern to once again prevail in a high-scoring affair is about as obvious a bet as you’re likely to see anytime soon.
