German Bundesliga
Pick: Bayern Munich Win & Both Teams to Score
Odds: 6/4

Preview: Between 2019-20 and 2020-21, there was simply no splitting these teams, at least when they met each other, with each league encounter in this period ending in stalemate. However, Bayern appear to have established the upper hand having won the last two meetings prior to Saturday’s Allianz Arena contest.

Bayern Munich – Champions determined to avoid successive home defeats?

Some might argue that any lead for a team crowned the best in Germany the last nine seasons running is insurmountable. However, a six point advantage back to Borussia Dortmund in second, with 42 points still up for grabs, suggests the title race has far from run its course. Bayern will hope to see the gap grow to as many as nine by the time BVB are in action against third-place Leverkusen on Sunday.

This is because Julian Nagelsmann’s men welcome former employers RB Leipzig to Allianz Arena next up. A comprehensive 4-1 victory when these sides met on Matchday four of this season, coupled with Die Rotten winning seven of the last eight league games – racking up 24 goals, with eight coming in their latest two outings alone – suggests the record champions are primed to collect all three points once more.

Key Stat: Bayern have won eight of ten Bundesliga home matches in 2021-22 (GF30 GA8), but did succumb to a surprise 2-1 reverse at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach in their most recent home league outing in Munich.

RB Leipzig – Tedesco having the desired impact?

Following a slow start to his tenure as RB Leipzig boss, which begun with a 1-1 stalemate in Augsburg that was quickly followed by a humbling 2-0 reverse at home to Arminia Bielefed, Dominico Tedesco appears to have got to grips with the task at hand at the Red Bull giants. As such, his charges arrive in Munich – where they have never won (D2 L3) – on the back of their longest run of consecutive victories this season.

Prior to the recent break, Die Rotten Bullen chalked up their fourth straight win in all competitions with another assured performance in the 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg at Red Bull Arena. They have now won three successive league games for the first time this season, also scoring multiple times in each of these victories – something they had managed only once in their six previous league outings (W1 D1 L4).

Key Stat: New RB Leipzig coach Dominico Tedesco has already achieved what his predecessor could not, and that is win away from home in the Bundesliga. Die Rotten Bull were 2-0 victors at VfB Stuttgart last time out on the road but were previously winless in eight away league games (D4 L4).

Bayern Munich Vs RB Leipzig Betting Advice

Unsurprisingly, Bayern Munich are short odds to make it seven wins in twelve Bundesliga head-to-heads against RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. The record German champions have won the previous two meetings by an aggregate of 5-1, having previously been limited to a share of the points four league games running. So the pendulum has undoubtedly swung in Bayern’s favour.

Bayern Munich Vs RB Leipzig – Key Facts:

  • The previous two league meetings between the sides here in Munich both produced draws (0-0 and 3-3). Yet Bayern are chasing a third straight H2H victory, having won 4-1 at Red Bull Arena earlier in the season and 1-0 at the tail end of last season.
  • Bayern Munich have an excellent record as hosts this season, winning 80% of the time (W8 L2). Of their eight home league wins this term, there were Over 3.5 Goals in five.
  • RB Leipzig have never won an away Bundesliga game against Bayern (D2 L3), but are in sparkling form, racking up ten goals in winning their previous three league outings.

As well as chasing a third successive head-to-head victory, Bayern have plundered eight goals in winning their previous two league games – away at FC Koln and Hertha – and will be determined to atone for a 2-1 loss to Gladbach last time out in Munich. However, RB Leipzig’s resurgence under Tedesco suggests the visitors can make this interesting, with the 6/4 about Bayern prevailing without a clean sheet appealing.
