Belarus currently sit top of Group 2 by a one point margin ahead of second placed Luxembourg but the hosts will be looking for another three points on Monday night which could put some breathing space between Belarus and the chasing teams.
The hosts are enjoying a decent spell of form in recent times as they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last eight matches in all competitions which include notable wins against Slovenia and Luxembourg as well as points taken off Hungary and Moldova away from home.
They now return to home turf where they’ve won both of their home matches to date in the Nations League having accounted for San Marino 5-0 and Luxembourg 1-0. Midfielder Dragun and forward Saroka (2 goals apiece) are perhaps the likeliest anytime goalscorers for the hosts.
Moldova sit in third spot in Group 2 having won, drawn and lost in equal measure so far in this Nations League, but their one success was a recent 2-0 home win over bottom nation San Marino last time out at their Stadionul Zimbru.
This victory ended a run of 15 matches without a win in all competitions, with their only other previous win being against the same opposition back in March of last year, so they’ve managed just two wins from their last 23 matches in total.
Moldova also possess a poor away record on the international scene as they’re without a win from their last 11 on the road and have won just once in their last 17 on their travels. In addition, the visitors have failed to score in 10 of these last 17, so they’re expected to struggle in Belarus on Monday night.
