Belgium v England Betting Tip Belgium – World Cup 2018

Belgium can take the bronze medal

Belgium v England - World Cup 2018

Saturday 14th July 1500hrs Belgium v England Football – International – World Cup The penultimate game of the 2018 World Cup is upon us in a game that few care about and even fewer want to play in. It’s the traditional third and fourth playoff but in truth it means very little for either of these teams who just want to get home and on holiday as they try to rid themselves of the disappointment of missing out on reaching the final. Nevertheless, it’s a game of football so lets try and find a betting tip as Belgium take on England.

Belgium were nullified by France on Tuesday in a real high quality game. Following their heroics against Japan and Brazil in the previous round, it was almost unthinkable that Belgium would fail to score but they came up against an extremely resolute and well drilled defence, completely limiting any real chances and ensuring that Belgium’s wait for a first ever World Cup final appearance goes on for at least four more years. Roberto Martinez will be proud of his team’s efforts but there will always be that feeling of ‘what if’ when all is said and done. He will have to decide if he wishes to remain in charge for the European Championships in two years time but with so much potential still in this squad and time on their side, the smart money must be on him doing just that. He’ll also be looking to end what has been a positive tournament on a high by getting the win on Saturday.

England had the whole country gripped and in a state of frenzy as they looked to close in on reaching just their second World Cup final. Those hopes were at fever pitch when they went up 1-0 very early on in their semi final with Croatia and turned in a good performance for the first half hour. At that point it looked extremely hopeful but it never lasted and the Croats were by far the better team from there on in and deservedly won in extra time. There has been a really encouraging outpouring of support from the media and fans alike who recognise the efforts of a relatively inexperienced squad. Gareth Southgate and his players will be able to look back on this time and realise they have possibly overachieved by reaching the last four but that will not soften the fact they had an excellent chance to win the World Cup and failed to take it.

Belgium v England Betting Tips

There is some irony that these two meet again on the final weekend of the World Cup after all the hassle and drama that surrounded their meeting in the group stage. Both had already qualified by the time they met and the suggestion was a second place finish was the easier route to the final. Belgium may well be wondering what if in that scenario as they were definitely up against the better teams on paper but it still wasn’t straightforward enough for England so they can really have no complaints.

You struggle to remember teams who competed in this fixture down the years which illustrates just how irrelevant this game actually is. Neither team can be bothered playing in it and both coaches will inevitably make changes by giving players who have barely played some time on the pitch before departing for home. In terms of how the game pans out really depends on the tempo. I’m going to keep it pretty simple though and hope for a repeat of the game played just over two weeks ago when Belgium’s second string was better than England’s, and give the Red Devils another win over the three lions.
