Belgium Preview – Comfortable win for the Belgians?

Belgium have some vital Nations League games coming up. After Wednesday’s friendly, Roberto Martinez’s men take on Gareth Southgate’s England at Den Dreef on Sunday. A few days later, Belgium end their Group A2 campaign with a home match against in-form Denmark. At the time of writing, the Belgians are a point above both the English and the Danes.

Belgium have been in stunning form over the last few years, turning themselves into one of the world’s best footballing nations. Last month’s defeat to England at Wembley Stadium was their first loss since November 2018. In fact, since the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Belgium have lost just two games across all competitions.

Our betting prediction:

Martinez’s troops will be looking for a comfortable home win on Wednesday before they entertain England at the same venue on Sunday. In truth, the 2018 World Cup bronze medallists should be too strong for the Swiss in Leuven.

Switzerland Preview – Another tough night for the struggling Swiss?

Switzerland have had a fine few years under Vladimir Petkovic, who has been in charge of the Swiss national team since 2014. However, things have not been going too well of late. Switzerland ended 2019 with four wins from five, but they head to Belgium without a victory in their last five.

Since returning from the enforced break, the Swiss have lost three and drawn two of their five fixtures. Before battling to a 3-3 draw with Germany last month, Switzerland had lost back-to-back games to Croatia and Spain. They are currently bottom of their Nations League group, taking a mere two points from a possible 12.

The out-of-form Swiss could do with a good result on Wednesday but getting the better of the brilliant Belgians will be a tall order for Petkovic’s men.

Belgium vs Switzerland Betting Advice

These two countries went toe-to-toe in the inaugural Nations League two years ago. Belgium won the first game at home but were stunned in Switzerland. Haris Seferovic helped himself to a hat-trick as the Red Crosses thumped the Red Devils 5-2 at the Swisspoarena.

Key Facts – Belgium vs Switzerland Betting Tip

  • When the teams last met, Switzerland walloped Belgium 5-2
  • Wednesday’s fixture will be the tenth meeting between the two nations
  • Belgium have lost just twice since finishing third at the 2018 World Cup

This may only be a friendly game, but Belgium will be out for revenge after the heavy defeat when they last squared off. With Switzerland bang out of form at present, we fancy the home team to secure a comfortable victory at Den Dreef. Back Belgium to win -1 at 7/4. We also like the look of the hosts to be winning at half time and full time at 8/5.
