The first season back in Italy’s top-flight has been successful so far for Benevento who’s ultimate aim is to stay in Serie A. Last weekend’s 1-0 win away to Fiorentina was not only an impressive and surprising victory, but it was also hugely important as it ended a run of four straight defeats in the league and five in all competitions. The win puts them on nine points after eight games and sitting in 14th spot. Benevento’s only home win of the season was a 1-0 victory against Bologna. They have lost heavily to Inter and Spezia whilst Napoli defeated them 2-1.

Andrea Pirlo is getting a baptism of fire in his first managerial role and there has been some disappointments already. Despite the attention given to some performances and dropped points in the league, Juventus are still unbeaten domestically and only four points off top spot.
Since losing to Barcelona in the Champions League, Juve are unbeaten in their last five and won four of them. They’ve yet to win two consecutive league games, however.

Juve’s only away win in the league so far this season was a resounding 4-1 win against Spezia. Draws with Lazio and Roma are acceptable enough but sharing points with the likes of Crotone as they did in October. And Pirlo is well aware of the standards expected of the team considering his exploits as a player.
Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is leading the way in terms of scoring. He’s already on eight goals in Serie A despite playing just five games. Incredibly, he’s scored in every league game so far netting doubles in three of them.
