Pep Clotet’s Birmingham City entertain Thomas Frank’s Brentford at St Andrew’s on Saturday afternoon. The Bees are flying high in the EFL Championship table, but the Blues have won each of their last three in league action. I’m predicting this to be an entertaining Championship clash in the Midlands at the weekend.

Birmingham City Preview – Will the Blues extend their unbeaten run this weekend?

Pep Clotet’s Birmingham City are starting to find some form. It’s been a frustrating first season at St Andrew’s for the Spaniard, but the Blues have won four and drawn two of their previous six in the league. Prior to that, City had lost five and drawn one of six.

After excellent wins over Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, Birmingham battled to a scrappy 1-0 victory at Oakwell in midweek. Scott Hogan – who has been in excellent form since arriving from rivals Aston Villa – scored the only goal of the game in Yorkshire.

Our betting prediction:
Brentford to score first

Birmingham have not suffered a defeat in any competition since losing 3-2 at home to Wigan Athletic on New Year’s Day. Since then, the Midlands outfit have won six and drawn three of nine league and cup matches.

Birmingham have been hard to beat on their own patch lately, and Clotet’s troops will no doubt give Brentford a good game at St Andrew’s on Saturday. Can the Blues secure a fourth league win on the spin?

Brentford Preview – Can the Bees return to London with a big three points in the bag?

Brentford missed the chance to move into the top two in the Championship in midweek, as Thomas Frank’s boys were held to a 1-1 draw by out-of-sorts Leeds United at Griffin Park. Nevertheless, the Bees have got on track after a disappointing loss to promotion rivals Nottingham Forest, taking seven points from the last nine on offer.

Brentford are unbeaten in three away from home, winning at Bristol City (4-0) and Hull City (5-1), and drawing 0-0 with Huddersfield Town. The Londoners ran riot at the KCOM Stadium in their last away game, with a Said Benrahma hat-trick helping Frank’s side to a handsome 5-1 win.

Brentford have had a sensational season so far, and they look nailed on for a top six finish. However, Frank’s eyes will be firmly set on the top two. Three points at St Andrew’s at the weekend would take them a step closer to their Premier League dream.

Birmingham City vs Brentford Betting Advice

Birmingham shocked Brentford at Griffin Park on the opening weekend of the season. The Bees were the strong favourites on their own patch, but their guests had other ideas, with Kristian Pedersen’s early goal giving the Blues a narrow 1-0 win. City are unbeaten in three against Brentford, winning one and drawing two.

Key Facts – Birmingham City vs Brentford Betting Tip

  • Birmingham have not lost in any competition since being beaten by Wigan on New Year’s Day
  • Brentford have taken seven points from their last three away matches, scoring nine times along the way
  • Brentford’s last win over the Blues was a big 5-0 victory back in February 2018

With both sides in tip-top shape, this is a tough fixture to call. Birmingham have been on a great run lately, while Brentford have been outstanding away from home in recent weeks. I’m having a tough time splitting the two, so I’m tipping this to end all square (5/2) at St Andrew’s. Both teams should get on the scoresheet (4/5) in this one, so back the 1-1 draw at 11/2.
