12th placed Derby County have also had their own problems in recent times as The Rams have suffered four defeats on the trot which has well and truly put paid to any lingering hopes that the visitors may have had in achieving a possible top six finish.
Earlier, Derby had strung together a promising five-match winning streak which included wins against Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, Reading and Preston North End which had seemingly set Derby on course for a possible play-off spot but their subsequent slump in form means another season in the Championship next term.
Subsequent defeats against West Brom, Brentford, Cardiff City and Leeds United has admittedly been a very tough set of fixtures for The Rams in recent weeks and with just four away wins from their last 21 matches on their travels, Derby also look far from a guaranteed three points here on Wednesday night.
