Blackburn Rovers Preview – Can Rovers extend run?
Blackburn Rovers will be hoping they can finish this Championship season with a three-match unbeaten run in the second tier when they entertain Birmingham City at Ewood Park following a 5-2 crushing defeat over Huddersfield Town and a 1-1 draw away from home at Rotherham United.
It’s been another frustrating season in the Championship though for Rovers who sit in a disappointing 15th place and appear to be going nowhere under manager, Tony Mowbray, as expectations of a possible challenge for a play-off spot have again been scuppered.
Blackburn have won their last two home matches on the trot though and they stand a decent chance of collecting the points against Birmingham City here in this final match of the season.
Birmingham City Preview – Can Blues bounce back?
A make-shift Birmingham City XI were dealt a 4-0 hammering at St Andrews in last weekend’s defeat to Cardiff City after manager, Lee Bowyer, made wholesale changes in his team for seemingly no apparent reason, leaving seven first team players on the bench.
Bowyer and Blues paid the price but the visitors are expected to be almost at full strength for this visit to Ewood Park with only forward Hogan and midfielder Toral missing out through injury but it’ll be interesting to see how the visitors fare after a previous six-match unbeaten run was ended unnecessarily.
Birmingham have also won their last two away matches on the trot with wins at Rotherham United and Derby County but a draw may seem the likely outcome here.
